Welcome to the Portal of Perplexus, Stranger, take a rest and enjoy your stay. And while you’re here, have a look around in a world, where the mind goes crazy. Where all you have known you have to leave behind, where you must rebuild your knowledge of reality.
The world has changed in only a moment. Everything that was thought to be constant and stable turned to be unreliable and everchanging. Neighbouring towns disappeared, enemies were left on the battlefields to survive together, well known spells turned against their casters, and mist covered the borders of the new territories. And out of this mist came something undescribeable, something that no-one has seen before.
But some say, that somewhere, hidden deep within the Chambers of Alichen, guarded by Ruquaya, the Destroyer lie the Scripts of Truth, the true story of the Age of Perplex. Some know them as the Memoirs of Grogath, others refer to them as the Book of Decay, but only a few dare to speak of them as the TEARS OF HÆL

We are just done with the One Week Coding Marathon – as we called it. It was really fantastic journey. We have learned a lot a of new things about game development in general, and tried to find our own way to networking, the next important part of Perplexus. Having a very detailed and simplified design about the system itself, it took us a few weeks of headache, how to implement it, until we were directed to an interesting series of articles about Entity Systems at T=Machine blog.
Very interesting posts are there about a new programming concept, which is a bit similar to OOP and can be easily get lost, if one mixes the two. We tried to build an implementation on our own, mainly for learning what’s in there, but also because it solves many of the problems we had when relying on an a class hierarchy.
I do not think, that what we created is the best implementation of an Entity System. We might not even be close to one. But we started it, and opened the sources, so anyone interested can join our work and use it in their own projects. It is available from our maven repository:
novyon.maven
http://novyon.net/maven/
The dependency settings are:
org.novyon
entity-system
0.0.2
Thoughts on this topic can be shared in the comments. Any improvements and critics are welcome. Currently we are depending on the EclipseLink JPA implementation, but we are about to use a faster datastore, though it’s not decided yet.

We are looking for talented artists/ 3D modellers who could help us finish the game, and also a Community Manager / Writer(Blogger?), who would help us spread the word, write some updates to the site, twitter and facebook, and get the folks as excited as we are.

We have started an campaign on IndieGoGo.com to raise some minor funds. We are about to get some licenses, a few more artworks would be necessary as well, and we also want to register ourselves and parts of this project (trademarks, etc.) in international directories. What we need is clearly described on our profile, any questions and comments are welcome there, we will update the profile as we advance.
What you will get in return? We are offering a few perks, so you can leave a personal mark on the game before it is even published as beta: give name to a citizen, chief of guards, noble houses of past or present. You can choose any of them, and you name will live on, and others will see how you have helped us make it to the release.
Any help is appreciated, and we would thank even if you just spread a word about us. The link to the campaign can be found on the sidebar, where you can follow our progress as well.
Thanks for your time!
